The Alaric I. Phillips Scholarship Fund was established to honor and memorialize a beloved son, brother, friend and advocate for social justice. Alaric was a graduate of Coppin State University’s Social Work program which produces amply prepared graduates who go on to earn advanced degrees and/or work in the human service field as child welfare advocates, mental health workers or counselors. These graduates impact the lives of the citizens of Baltimore and beyond within a variety of agencies and organizations.
Alaric’s belief was that the common person should be given access to basic civil liberties—a shining example of the true meaning of social work. Continuing in that vein of preparing Social Work students to champion those causes that make the world a better place for us all, we are inviting you to support the Alaric I.
